Nima Patel Edwards is a Director in KPMG’s Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) and Climate Advisory practice where she specializes in ESG strategy, reporting, and physical climate risk and resilience working with insurance and government sector clients. Nima has more than 15 years of experience leading strategy, managing operations, and implementing complex policies for major federal programs. Prior to KPMG, Nima served on a working group for FEMA’s White House initiative on resilience and disasters for at-risk populations, led efforts for congressional reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program, and was a primary author of a major study on flood insurance affordability resulting in a legislative proposal in the 2022 budget to implement the program. Nima also conducted major studies for Congressional committees at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, focused on financial and insurance regulation both domestically and internationally and national security related to nuclear smuggling. Nima is a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion facilitator and speaker, and is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She holds her BA in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University with a focus on international development and environmental policy.
